About
Raymond Gense studied mechanical engineering and after that he worked for 20 years at consultancy firms on air quality and mobility. In his period at TNO Automotive he was the liaison between TNO's test-and consultancy work and the Dutch national government and the European Commission. He worked a.o. on WLTP and European In Use compliance and lead the Dutch part of the programme. After that period he led the air quality department of the Rotterdam-Rijnmond environmental agency.
In 2006 Raymond switched to Pon Holdings, at that moment the Dutch importer of VW AG and Caterpillar products, where he co-developed and implemented a sustainable products and services strategy. Part of the strategy was Pon entered the bicycle production world in 2011 with the acquisition of Gazelle cycles. In order to facilitate Pon's growth, interaction with governments and their mobility regulations is essential, so Raymonds focus shifted to international politics, legislation and services development in the role of Director Pon Mobility. He led a Pon startup developing a multi modal urban mobility platform (Next Urban Mobility) and represents Pon in all relevant branch associations, amongst which RAI, Fietsersbond, CONEBI, ECF and CIE. In the latter as a member of the management board, contributing to the development of a healthy, safe, sustainable and profitable mobility ecosystem in Europe.
